This week we represented the Lancashire ice cream sector at the Taste Lancashire Conference, and what a day it was!
I was blown away by the producers there and came away feeling incredible amounts of pride for the county I was born and live in. I also learned so much from the expert panel of guest speakers and enjoyed many conversations with people from such diverse backgrounds within the food and drink sector, many of whom were trying ice cream rolls for the first time….we were invited to showcase our product alongside the quality buffet lunch at Holmes Mill, honestly the lunch was out of this world good.
We created two flavour samples: ‘You Can’t Catch Me!’ using homemade gingerbread cake by Caroline from West Coast Cafe & Smoothie Bar in St Annes and topped with a salted caramel sauce, and one of our enduring favourites ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ using mixed berries, meringue and a luxury raspberry coulis from BoothsCountry.
All the producers had products that really had the ‘wow’ factor, so much quality in one room. We were next to CALYX (drinks made from flowers and natural ingredients), and Goosnargh Gin (the owners have been long-time collectors of small batch gins and their personal passion shines through their product).
What has struck me about all the businesses we worked alongside at the conference was the people behind them. With outrageous passion, work ethic and concern for their customers clearly visible in them all, I was truly inspired and honoured to be invited to stand alongside them.
How we got here in just over a year I have no idea but how proud I am of The Ice Alchemists UK team and grateful to everyone who has been with us on this whirlwind journey 🙏.
Blink and you miss me 😆
